For information, a registered user will not be moved to the new forum unless he clearly mentions his name (as username instead of KingOfConneries or somethimg like that), or posts his clear photo (avatar). You can make it from the profile menu.

Anyway if any funding problems occur, I think the 400~500 students can help, really, we can raise a sum by lots of ways (not meaning the student council), if money is dragging significant progress or else (we should keep boosting the forum, the potentials are huge) dont hide it, things seem to have changed and everyone knows the rare oppertunity offered by this forum.

However, doesn't seem you're ready to wake-up in your photo !!!

Sleeping doesn't mean not thinking nor producing..... What can I do when I loose intrest in some classes, dont worry 3 doctors (subject's) always kept me wake, and You were one of them....

after the access to the control panel of this forums i found that this free editboard do not give access to the DB where the threads are being saved nor a backup DB file that we can use to restore our DB of the new forums and this links demostrate what i m talking about

as i know that the phpBB control panel have the possiblity to backup DB but it seems that editboar changed the Admin Panel since phpBB is an open source.

however another issue concerning the new free hosting
btw: the free thing is always bad lol
i installed the forums on the new server
view the new forums context no layout just the predefined lines for the forums that we are willing to upgrade to

well my-php.net support php but it seems not all php function, the mail php function the one that send emails is disabled, so we tried via the SMTP server but they give u access to it if you upgrade to the premium account.

therfore we have 2 solution:
1. stay with this free forum and loose 1 euro paid for the domain
2. pay for the hosting at nathosting.com the one i trust
btw: i felt that this free hosting is hiding something thanks god i knew before finishing the flashreply.com and uploading site

Note if we stay at this forums note that the data will be large we only start this forums from 1 week and u see we have 288 post and that a good thing so in the future Dr bassam if u planed to move to another hosting then the lost data will be trouble

i m sorry i brought to you this bad news but i tried all i can

if we chose the choice number 2 we can also develop another project and it is not just a hosting forum, a website for genie-cafe.net and i m the first volunteer that would like to work on it.

I suggest to go with PLAN 2

Sooner or later, we have to move to better solution, and we will lose the data anyway. So, It's easier to move now then to wait and have more data to lose.

After All, with Plan 2, we will get Genuine domain with genuine forum with all the functionalities ! The only convenient is to lose the current data........ Big Deal, we started 1 week ago, and until now we have to much to lose ........ After all that is my opinion

Ok we can move. Just tell me what to buy, where and how. I will pay everything using my esurf card.
I will save some of these data and repost it to new forum.
Tell me before moving in order to send a general message to users to tell them how to re-register and when.

Just a remark: I don't see real participation of students from civil and meca engineering. They have to know that it's a forum for all of us, not only for Elec and computer department.

I can see this forum growing. My final projection for it goes too far, reaching a forum such as LebanonStudents, passing by GenieStudents (3 brabches, UL engineers students must communicate), then all UL faculties students). And finally ArabStudents and then WorldStudents forum.
It will take years and years but it's possible with all of you.

for the start of the website/forums plan 1 is more than fine, as i can see you are planing for a big upcomming project so i guess in the future we may use plan10, and if we would like to move we can move after all its not free hosting we have the control

I'm not sure what are our requirements but, usually, google offers lots of hosting functionalities...

Regarding how to buy the hosting
1. www.nathosting.com
2. choose plan 1
3. Plan 1 last row Order Now
4. complete the form, with hosting platform is linux

your account should be activated after 1-2 days than to link the hosting to the domain name
1. in the email they sent u there is the DNS
2. in yahoo CP for the domain replace the yahoo DNS with the DNS you have recieved from nat hosting

then we can install the new forum

if you would like to handle the instalation here s how it goes
1. go to phpbb.com and download the latest version
2. extrat then upload the content of the folder to a new created folder named "forums".
3. u need to make sure the CHMOD of the PHP files are rwx so then can read write execute.
4.to make sure of this is go to ur FTP software i usually use FILEZILLA right click the php file in the forum directory and click change CHMOD.
5. now in the CP of the hosting click the domain name and then it will take you to manage this domain like the email, automessage, limitation ect. anyway there is an icon for DBs you click it and create a new MySql DB name geniecafe_db and then click the creater DB and create a user forums and a pass
6. so now we can go to genie-cafe.net/forums it will redirect u to the instalation page (genie-cafe.net/forums/install).
7. complete the form, the DB Host is localhost
8. they will ask you to delete some files/folder
9 delete the folders and the forums is ready to for the next step wich defining the section and choosing the layout

ok great news i bought the hosting at this server (via paypal) that my friend refer me to it we can host multiple domain name so we can host genie-cafe.net and my domain there, all i need now is to wait for my account to be activated and send the DNS for you Dr Bassam.

N.B. They always tell you it takes 48 h to activate the plan, but in fact i may be activated after few hours only.
You can setup the new plan yourself. Just send me 1st and 2nd DNS to put it on our Yahoo domain name.

if you liked the hosting on this company, and you decided to stay you can repay via paypal, then you just need a paypal account, or maybe they accept via CC i didnt search about it, this is very good hosting for start up pretty cheap lets hope god everything will be ok

about the activation, i ve sent an email regarding this and they replied it will be actived by tonight or tomorrow morning as soon as i get it i ll forward the activation email to you.

if u will creat a private forum i suggest to be a vbulletin forum < it's better to show, it' control panel has more choises
vbulletin is really the better to do a forum
i have a arabic vb forum . its more easy to us the members, also to u and all the administartors and super moderators and moderators
